For our first task we had to set up a blog post detailing our experiences using WordPress, as a blogging platform and as a portfolio to show case our work.
My blog post can be found here
(for the purpose of this task I have removed the password protection, but have detailed how I first achieved this below)
The blog post had to be password protected and allow comments on the post to encourage engagement with out posts and so our tutors can leave feedback, an essential part of the course.
Here my tutor has left feedback in the comment section:
Tags are a feature of WordPress that allows you to label posts with the relevant tags that not only categorise your posts but also helps posts reach a wider audience of people. Once a tag is added, the post then becomes searchable and more people will potentially interact with your content.
For example, by using WordPress’s discover tool, key words or ‘tags’ are searchable and bring up posts that contain that tag.
This is an excellent way of not only categorising your posts but also help you to
gain traction and more views to your content.
This is important when trying to establish your work, especially online as it is saturated with a lot of content. I have tagged my own posts with terms relevant to my posts contents and saw the results.
Additionally sharing, promotes audience engagement and means potentially my posts can be linked on other sites.
